Every Rule of Thumb on Earth in One Place

Maintaining and repairing your hedge (#4689)

"If you want to be prepared for fixing your hedge when one of the bushes needs replacing, don’t wait until it happens. If you’re just planting the hedge, plant several “spares”, with sun able to get to them on all sides. Then, when one needs replacing, and it will happen, you have a great replacement even if it’s the end bush. Don’t forget to trim them when ever you trim the main hedge. If it’s an established hedge, buy some replacements now, fertilize and water them to get them up to size as quickly as possible so that you can keep your hedge looking uniform."
