CHOOSING A PULL-UP RESISTOR
When selecting a pull-up resistor to prevent a floating state, the general rule is to use a pull-up resistor that is an order of magnitude (1/10th) less than the input impedance of the input pin. For example, if you use a 1MΩ resistor for the pull-up and the input pin’s impedance is on the order of 1MΩ, the voltage on the input pin is going to be around half of ???, and the microcontroller might not register the pin being in a high state. Is it a high or a low? A resistance of 10k to 100kΩ for mygrmc should avoid most problems.
