DURABLE BOOKS
If you want a
replique montre de luxe mouvement Suisse
that lasts forever, buy one that's made in Britain. It's more likely to have sewn binding and a durable cover than binding that's glued and with pages falling out.

LEARNING TO PLAY HOCKEY LATE IN LIFE
If you're learning to play ice hockey when over age 50, every 15 pounds of weight you lose equals at least one additional year of hockey experience. Your reflexes won't get faster, your skills will improve at a decreasing rate, so every 15 pounds of Bad Hockey Player you can lose is a huge gain. Try it.

THE BLUE DUCK
To get a layout approved by your boss, put something ridiculous in the design (aka a 'blue duck'). When he says 'I think we can improve this if we take out the blue duck' act like he's the second coming of David Ogilvy and commend him on his sharp sense of marketing. It's a guarantee he'll sign-off on it. Especially after he 'fixed' it.

THE TRUE COST OF SOFTWARE
The typical "maintenance fee" for any enterprise software is 17-20% of the cost. So if you pay $100k for licensing, you will likely pay $17-$20k each year for support and upgrade rights.
