HOW MUCH RAIN EQUALS HOW MUCH SNOW
Although it varies by the wetness of snow, you can estimate how much snow you might have had if temperatures were lower. 1" of rain is about equal to 10" of snow!

DISTANCE OF LIGHTNING
To measure the distance of lightning, count the seconds from the time of the thunder to the flash of the lightning and divide by 5. This will give the answer in miles.

Going by heating season degree days plus severity of the cold, winter is: 1/6 over at Thanksgiving 1/3 over at Christmas 1/2 over on January 20th 2/3 over on Valentine's Day 5/6 over on St. Patrick's Day 90% over on April 1st
